The Centre for Student Affairs and Alumni organised a Week of Welcome (WOW) Programme for a new cohort of 574 students, held at the Convocation Hall over two days from 11 to 12 June.
The programme aimed to introduce students to the realities of university life while raising awareness around safety, health, and personal growth, all essential foundations for becoming informed, responsible, and values-driven members of the AIU community.
The first day featured a series of targeted sessions conducted in collaboration with key government agencies, addressing real-world challenges that impact student well-being and readiness, both on and beyond campus.
Representatives from the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK), Immigration Department, Ministry of Health, and Royal Malaysia Police delivered insightful sessions on critical issues such as drug prevention, immigration regulations, communicable diseases, and online scams. Designed with a diverse student body in mind, including many from overseas, the sessions provided practical guidance to help students navigate both university life and the broader national landscape with confidence and awareness.
Complementing the external sessions were insightful presentations by AIU’s own academic and administrative leaders. Registrar, Madam Norpisah Mat Isa introduced students to the university’s signature 5A Core Values, while Counsellor Mr. Mohammad Hafis Shafiq Mohammad Sopian provided an overview of the MyNext Career Readiness Platform. Associate Professor Dr. Suraya Hanim Mokhtar, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation), concluded the afternoon with an engaging introduction to the 3ZERO Club initiative.
The second day featured the Oath-Taking Ceremony, a meaningful tradition that formally inducted new students into the AIU community. Held in the presence of Senate members alongside academic and administrative staff, the ceremony stood as both a symbolic milestone and a personal pledge of each student’s commitment to uphold AIU’s core values of integrity, excellence, and community engagement.
