AIU First-Year BECE Students Bring Kindergarten Management to Life Through Promotional Fair Simulation

Share

Albukhary International University (AIU) continues to champion experiential learning as first-year students from the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECE) program hosted a simulated Kindergarten Fair on September 19, 2025. The event, held as part of the course ECC1323: Professional Childhood Education, gave students an authentic opportunity to apply their knowledge of kindergarten management, communication, and curriculum design in a hands-on learning environment.

The fair transformed AIU’s learning space into a lively, colorful exhibition of creativity and professionalism. A total of 19 BECE students participated, each setting up their own promotional booth designed to convince “parents” — played by students from other departments, including the Bachelor of Media and Communication (BMC) program — to enroll their children in their mock kindergartens.

Learning Through Experience

Each booth showcased the students’ innovative teaching concepts, classroom philosophies, and child-centered approaches. Exhibits included learning corners, thematic displays, creative arts, and infographics, all crafted to highlight effective teaching strategies and early childhood engagement methods.

The simulation went beyond display—it provided a realistic scenario for developing professional communication skills, confidence, and teamwork. Students learned how to engage parents, handle inquiries, and promote educational values with clarity and empathy—skills vital for future educators.

Instructor’s Perspective

Course lecturer Mme. Faeizaratul Fazeila Binti Isa, affectionately known on campus as Miss Creative (a title conferred during the 2025 Teachers’ Day Celebration), expressed her delight with the students’ efforts, describing the fair as “95% successful and very compelling”.

“Nowadays, many kindergartens organize fairs to attract parents. So I thought, why not let my students experience the same in a professional way instead of the usual classroom presentation? They’ve proven that learning by doing truly works,” said Mme. Faeiza.

Students’ Reflections

The highlight of the event came from the Genius Kinderland group, which won first prize for their engaging and well-organized booth. Team leader May Lin Htet described the experience as both exciting and challenging.

“It was a mix of excitement and nervousness. We wanted everything to go smoothly,” she shared. “Handling parents’ questions required confidence and teamwork—but in the end, the hard work paid off, and we’re proud to have received the first prize.”

Empowering Future Educators

The Kindergarten Fair Simulation exemplifies AIU’s commitment to practical learning, innovation, and professional readiness. By recreating real-world educational settings, students gain valuable insight into early childhood management, curriculum marketing, and stakeholder communication — all essential for success in today’s education sector.

This initiative also aligns with AIU’s broader vision to produce educators who are creative, empathetic, and community-oriented, preparing them to make a lasting impact in early childhood education across Malaysia and beyond.
