Enhancing Accuracy and Clarity in Qur’anic Translation

Running from 23 to 31 July 2025, the initiative saw 22 committed AMSA volunteers work diligently to review and refine the Burmese translation of the Qur’an originally prepared by IIIT Myanmar. Under the esteemed guidance of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maulana Akbar Shah @ U Tun Aung from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), the team focused on:

  • Correcting punctuation, grammar, and spelling
  • Reviewing surah titles, numbers, and verses
  • Cross-checking each section for consistency and precision

Some participants devoted entire days to a single section, demonstrating remarkable patience and academic discipline.

Intellectual Reflections Through a Public Talk

The Closing Ceremony featured a special session titled “The Epistemological and Cosmological Worldview in the Qur’an”, with insightful talks delivered by:

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maulana Akbar Shah
  • Dr. Mohd Abbas Abdul Razak
  • Dr. Alizaman Dumangcag Gamon

Their discussions delved into the Qur’anic worldview and inspired deeper reflection on themes of knowledge, existence, and faith among attendees.

Student Volunteerism and Institutional Support

Volunteers also shared their experiences during a reflective sharing session, followed by a certificate presentation ceremony in appreciation of their efforts.

Chit Ko Ko, President of AMSA, expressed heartfelt gratitude, stating:

“This project would not be possible without the opportunity given to us by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maulana and, most importantly, the devotion of the student volunteers who sacrificed their semester break for this programme.”

Upholding the Spirit of Community and Ummah

Mr. Abdul Shakur Abdullah, Deputy Registrar and Director of the Centre for Corporate Planning and Communication at AIU, commended AMSA’s efforts, stating:

“This reflects the spirit of gratitude and responsibility upheld by the University. We look forward to continued collaboration that benefits not only the local community but the wider Ummah as well.”

The event drew participation from Al-Qur’an and Islamic Club members and attendees across the university community, further enriching the shared commitment to faith-based learning and service.
