ALOR SETAR, 1 August 2025 – In a significant step toward academic empowerment, the Department of Strategic Research (KASTRAT) under the Indonesian Student Association of Albukhary International University (PPI AIU) successfully concluded its flagship academic writing programme, Alinea Class, on 28 July 2025.
Designed as a comprehensive, seven-month initiative, the programme aimed to equip students with critical skills in academic writing, analytical thinking, and scholarly communication, aligned with AIU’s broader goal of nurturing future intellectual leaders.
A Structured Approach to Academic Writing
Alinea Class officially began on 11 January 2025, and was delivered in two distinct phases:
- Writer’s Trace – Focused on developing foundational writing techniques and academic writing conventions.
- Writer’s Compass – Encouraged participants to create research-based articles with original perspectives and proper academic rigor.
The programme kicked off with a hands-on Article Writing Workshop, setting the tone for months of focused intellectual development.
Mentorship and Methodology
Under the guidance of Mr. Mohd Fadli bin Zakaria, a respected lecturer from the Centre for Foundation and General Studies (CFGS), students engaged in a structured curriculum that included:
- Guided writing sessions
- Peer-reviewed drafts
- One-on-one mentorship
- Thematic writing development
- Final portfolio submission
Participants learned how to write clearly structured, well-researched academic texts, while building confidence in their academic voice.
Beyond the Classroom: Building Future Scholars
What distinguished Alinea Class was its long-term vision and academic discipline. The programme fostered:

The closing ceremony on 28 July 2025 marked not only the end of the programme but a celebration of the journey. Students proudly submitted their final academic portfolios, showcasing their growth, dedication, and mastery of the academic writing process.
