Albukhary International University (AIU) recently had the honour of hosting a working visit from Pertubuhan Pembangunan dan Bantuan Insan (INSAN) — also known as the Development and Human Relief Society — to discuss strategic collaboration in expanding educational access for underprivileged and displaced students, particularly those from Yemen.

The visit took place at the AIU campus in Alor Setar and was warmly received by Prof. Dato’ Ir. Dr. Mohd Saleh bin Jaafar, Vice Chancellor and President of AIU, along with university representatives from various departments dedicated to community engagement, scholarships, and student welfare.

🌍 Expanding Educational Opportunities for Students from Yemen

During the session, both institutions engaged in productive dialogue focused on student recruitment, funding initiatives, and scholarship opportunities for the October 2025 Intake.

The discussion centred on creating new pathways for Yemeni students who aspire to pursue higher education but face financial and logistical challenges due to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in their country.

This collaboration aims to complement existing AIU scholarship schemes by identifying additional financial support mechanisms, donor partnerships, and funding models that can help talented and deserving students from underprivileged backgrounds access world-class education in Malaysia.

💬 Shared Vision for Sustainable Student Support and Humanitarian Collaboration

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment between AIU and INSAN to develop a structured cooperation framework that focuses on long-term student empowerment and humanitarian engagement.

This framework will include:

  • Joint initiatives for student sponsorship and fundraising,
  • Recruitment partnerships targeting potential students from Yemen and other crisis-affected regions,
  • Development of leadership and skills programmes for international students, and
  • Strengthened monitoring and mentorship systems to ensure continuous academic and social support.

“AIU remains steadfast in our mission to make education accessible to all — regardless of geography, background, or circumstance,” said Prof. Dato’ Ir. Dr. Mohd Saleh bin Jaafar. “Collaborations like this with INSAN reaffirm our shared belief that education is the most powerful tool for sustainable development and peace.”

❤️ A Partnership Aligned with AIU’s 3ZERO Vision

This initiative aligns closely with AIU’s 3ZERO philosophyZero Poverty, Zero Unemployment, and Zero Net Carbon Emission — by addressing the educational and economic challenges faced by vulnerable communities.
It also supports the university’s long-standing mission of Education for All, a vision deeply rooted in compassion, inclusivity, and service to humanity.

Through such humanitarian partnerships, AIU continues to position itself as a global hub for transformative education, empowering youth from across the world to contribute meaningfully to their societies and build a better future for all.
