ALOR SETAR, 30 July 2025 – Albukhary International University (AIU) proudly represented its commitment to holistic student development through active participation in the MASISWA Phase 2 Games 2025. The prestigious multi-sport event was hosted by Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) and held at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) in Bangi, bringing together the best of Malaysia’s private higher education institutions in a celebration of athleticism, unity, and youthful ambition.
A National Gathering of Talent and Team Spirit
The MASISWA Games, short for Majlis Sukan Institusi Swasta Malaysia, are one of the largest inter-varsity sports events in Malaysia. The 2025 Phase 2 edition saw the participation of 24 private universities and colleges, each fielding their finest student-athletes to compete across various disciplines.
AIU joined the tournament with a contingent of 42 enthusiastic student-athletes, representing the university in three sporting categories:
- Netball
- Men’s Volleyball
- Women’s Volleyball
These events served as a dynamic platform for students to display not only their physical skills but also their values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance—qualities deeply rooted in AIU’s core principles.
A Strong Showing in Netball
Among the sports AIU competed in, the netball team stood out for its remarkable performance, progressing to the quarterfinals and securing a position among the top eight teams out of 19 participating institutions. Their journey through the preliminary rounds was marked by determination, strategic gameplay, and seamless coordination, reflecting the time and effort the athletes and coaches invested in preparation.
Though their campaign ended in the quarterfinals, the achievement represents a significant milestone for AIU, underscoring the growing strength of its sports development programs.
A Promising Debut in Volleyball
For both the men’s and women’s volleyball teams, the MASISWA Games 2025 marked their first-ever inter-varsity competition. Despite not progressing beyond the group stage, both teams displayed admirable fighting spirit in every match. Their performances were closely contested, with many games pushing opponents to their limits. This debut experience has laid a strong foundation for future growth and development in AIU’s volleyball programs.
AIU commends the players for their dedication, teamwork, and sportsmanship, which were evident throughout the tournament. Their participation goes beyond the win-loss record—it reflects courage, learning, and the will to improve.
