Albukhary International University (AIU) proudly celebrates another remarkable achievement after securing First Place at the Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) Business Case Study Idea Virtual Competition 2025. The win, announced on 15 October 2025, highlights AIU’s growing strength in sustainable innovation, entrepreneurship, and problem-solving at the national level.
A National Competition Championing Green Innovation
The competition, organized by UMK’s Global Entrepreneurship Research & Innovation Centre (GERIC) and Entrepreneurship Institute (UMKEI), brought together 25 participants from universities across Malaysia. Under the theme “Inspiring Technology & Innovation Through Sustainable Entrepreneurship,” contestants presented forward-thinking ideas that address real-world environmental and socio-economic challenges.
AIU emerged as the overall champion, standing out for its creativity, research depth, and commitment to sustainability.

AIU’s Winning Team and Their Circular Economy Breakthrough
The victory was achieved by the highly dedicated AIU trio:
- Zakiyah Hasanah
- Novila
- Muhammad Ikhlas Ardinata
Guided by their advisor, Madam Nur Arfah Abdul Sabian, the team presented an innovative circular economy solution for sustainable food waste management. Their proposal integrated technology, community engagement, and environmental stewardship to tackle food waste—one of Malaysia’s growing sustainability concerns.
Their outstanding work earned them a RM300 cash prize and national recognition for excellence in sustainable entrepreneurship.
Strong Competition from UMK Teams
The second and third places were awarded to teams from UMK, whose projects focused on:
- Ethical finance innovations
- Social entrepreneurship solutions in the healthcare sector
Both teams were rewarded with RM200 and RM100, respectively.
The organizers praised the diversity of ideas, stating:
“We’re thrilled to see impactful solutions that prioritize both innovation and sustainability. These entries show how entrepreneurship can address real environmental and social challenges.”

A Month-Long Journey Toward Sustainable Change
Running from September to October, the month-long virtual competition challenged participants to:
- Develop solutions aligned with Malaysia’s green economy agenda
- Address issues connected to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
- Integrate entrepreneurship with long-term sustainability and innovation
The event successfully inspired students and educators to champion sustainability-driven entrepreneurship and explore how technology can transform environmental practices nationwide.
